Company’s treatment plant complex in Riga, Tvaiku street 39, services the incoming ships of Freeport of Riga (24 hours a day). The company has 5 (five) ship units (ships for collection of waste and emergency relief) in the aquatory of the Freeport of Riga.
In the Freeport of Riga, waste management is carried out in accordance with the Cabinet Regulation No. 455 – “Procedures for the Recovery of Ship-generated Waste and Polluted Waters and the Procedure for the Development of Ship-generated Waste Management Plans”, as well as the International Convention MARPOL 73/78 and the Convention of April 9, 1992, on the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Baltic Sea Area and the recommendations of Helsinki Commission (HELKOM).
EKO OSTA Ltd. accepts for disposal liquid (ballast water, bilge, tank washings) and other (household) waste produced by ships. The processing capacity of the treatment plant constitutes a 200,000 m³ / year and can provide a simultaneous acceptance of 5000 m³ of sewage water for further processing. Thanks to a group of scientists, various treatment process improvements and the modernization of treatment equipment is carried out on a regular basis.
