Purification of soil contaminated with oil productsSince 1999 EcoOsta Ltd. has been  processing contaminated ground. Production of decontamination of soil contaminated with oil products Soil contaminated with oil products – is the soil the contamination level of which, according to the legislation, exceeds the norm of containing certain oil products.

In 1999 EcoOsta Ltd. in collaboration wtih the engineers of Riga Technical University developed a cleansing device for the soil contaminated with oil products. At the heart of this technological process lays soil steaming in airlift tanks, hot water and steam washing, washing with oil demulsifying additives in a two-phased washing within the cleansing facility.

In 2009 having had evaluated the achievements reached within the scope of this scientific field, EcoOsta Ltd. in collaboration with the faculty of microbiology of Latvian University, developed the clones of the microorganisms for the contaminated soil cleaning by means of applying a biological method.There exist reactors that are most appropriate for microorganisms reproduction, to reach the necessary volume for production. Microorganisms of their own making and additives of biological products will speed up the time of soil processing.   Together with co-operation partners of Jelgava region were built cleansing facilities for soil decontamination that are already operational and  accept contaminated soil for its further reclamation. The initial power capacity of the facilities amounts to 10 000 t. yearly. The project is highly innovative for latvian conditions, since the soil contaminated with oil products is processed by means of a biological method. In the cleansing network of contaminated soil normally contaminated drainage waters are formed, which are allocated into separate manufacturing cleansing facilities. Some part of drainage waters is allocated into the cleansing facilities network in Riga, 39 Tvaika str. Decontaminated soil reaching the level of 100 mg/kg is used for roads building, slopes construction, for improving building sites such as humus horizon and also for manure production.
